Introduction to Impact United’s Competitive Soccer Program

Impact United has three levels of competitive teams to choose from. These team levels are intended to provide the soccer players the option to choose the commitment and training levels that are best suited to them and their families. Here’s a short description of each level:
- The Black team consists of players with the highest level of skill, as determined by coaches at tryouts. Black-team players compete at the state and national levels, attend high-level tournaments to be exposed to college coaches, and give soccer training top priority the entire year. Black teams require the highest level of commitment; out-of-state tournament travel is expected, and attendance is required at all practices and games.
- The White team is designed for players with above-average soccer skills, and for those who choose not to make the same level of commitment as the black-team players. These players often have commitments to other sports and activities. White teams will usually enter some area tournaments, generally requiring less travel.
Impact United encourages player mobility between its teams in each age group based on each player’s ability and circumstances. This mobility is managed cooperatively between the coaches in the club during the annual tryout process.
Different levels offer different training opportunities and have different fees (see Albertson’s Discount Card program.)
Please Note: based upon current UYSA scheduling, all Impact United competition teams play two games per week during the fall and spring seasons, travel throughout the Wasatch Front area to play league games. All teams play in the same UYSA competition league and are placed in the appropriate division based on their demonstrated performance, not on their Impact United level designation.
Tryouts are held annually in late May and early June (click here for the 2010 Tryout Schedule). Impact also offers an ‘Introduction to Competition‘ for U9 and U10 players.
